Seismic Hazard and Risk Analysis
Elisa Anelli is a catastrophe risk modeller and analyst at RED. Since she joined the company in 2014, she has been involved in the development of earthquake and hydro-meteorological risk models. From 2010 to 2013 she worked as a structural engineer for an Italian engineering company, Studio Calvi srl. There, she focused on the analysis and seismic assessment of existing buildings, and on the seismic design and retrofit of public structures, such as hospitals, schools and courthouses, being responsible for all the project phases, from the design to the construction, and collaborating as a site engineer. She obtained her M.Eng. degree in Building Engineering from the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2010 and in the same year she obtained the status of chartered civil engineer.
Within the collaboration RED/ERN, Elisa is currently project manager of the Risk Management activities for CCRIF SPC (Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility), dealing with the development of new natural catastrophe risk models and Country Risk Profiles, and with the design and management of parametric insurance products for national governments. She is responsible for RED’s monitoring activities and real-time analyses for earthquake, tropical cyclone and excess rainfall events. She is also working on the development of new Earthquake and Tropical Cyclone models for the Caribbean and Central American region, mainly focusing on the exposure and vulnerability modules. Among other projects, she was involved in the development of the RED/ERN Pan-European Earthquake Risk Model, especially focusing on data collection and generation of the Exposure Database.
